What our readers are saying about Lucky the Poochipug...

This beautifully written and illustrated book helps kids learn they can continue to love pets even after a loss. It further shows that love can help overcome many challenges. Lucky brought joy and love to everyone despite his illnesses.

Touching and Inspiring! This book was just great! It brought back memories over our lifetime of pets we loved and lost....Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Alligators, Fish...you name it. We grew attached to each and every one and none were easy to give up when the time came. Today, we have a 9 month old Australian Mini named Blue who is the most loving animal we have ever met and we look forward to years and years of her being a major part of our lives!

Great book! My first impression of the book was HOW CUTE AND COLORFUL IT IS! I absolutely loved the illustrations and the use of color to grab the reader’s attention, especially to the younger kids that the book it targeted towards. The amount of detail in every photo to help extend the words on the page was so neat to look at throughout the story. As far as the actual content of the story goes, I loved it just as much as the illustrations. It’s such a cute, wholesome story that is great for the younger minds to process. I also love how it tells a story about a dog who isn’t perfect. It has a hidden message of accepting everyone no matter their qualities or uniqueness. I have no critiques at all! This story packed in some great lessons for kids to learn at a young age, provided some bigger words to widen the vocabulary of a child, and topped it off with beautiful imagery. I 100% recommend! GREAT BOOK!! :)

Moving Book for Anyone Whose Pet Has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I really enjoyed this simple little book; pet owners of all ages will inevitably see their beloved pets in the loss of the authors’ Aggie; the tale of healing and opening their hearts again to Lucky reminds you that there’s always room to love another pet again and that your next pet could be waiting for you. The illustrations and text fonts were soft, sweet, and friendly even when showing moments when Lucky was at the vet for treatment. I’m glad I ordered this book, and I’ll add it to my book collection to read again!

Great Book. This book was introduced to my family at the most perfect time. We ended up having to put our doggy of 15 years down the day after I knew of this book. This book helped my daughter and I smile a little through the tears. Such a beautiful story. Pretty much like a rainbow after a storm. Beautifully written and illustrated. It's a must read. For the love of a dog! This is a delightful book. Anyone who has a dog, loves the dog or has lost the dog will find this book inspiring. It is beautifully illustrated, and I think people of all ages who love dogs will enjoy it. I think it would be an appropriate gift to give somebody who is grieving for a lost dog.

Howard & Pat London's Lucky the Poochipug on love, loss and the in between is beautifully written and illustrated. The story allows readers to experience what can happen after a loss of a beloved pet, and a glimpse of how two compassionate people gave a rescue dog a chance. With each turn of the page Sophie Anne McGregor's creative illustrations helps the reader to experience empathy and love. Adults and children will both take away something of their own.

A must have book for anyone who loves dogs! This book touched me on a profound level. Being a pet owner, I found a deep bond with the author's poignant narrative of loss and healing alongside their cherished pet, Aggie. The story of embracing Lucky as a new companion struck a chord within me, emphasizing the endless capacity of our hearts for love and the possibility of another furry friend awaiting us. The tender illustrations and welcoming text artfully depicted the emotional voyage, particularly during the challenging moments of Lucky's care. The decision to include this book in my collection and share it with my grandchildren fills me with joy. I eagerly anticipate revisiting its pages time and time again!

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Lucky the Poochipug" by Howard & Pat London.]

As we already know, humans are more knowledgeable than animals, but we have a lot in common regarding emotions, a unique way of life, and illness. We should also acknowledge that every life is valuable, and this book titled Lucky the Poochipug: A True Story About Love of a Dog, Loss Grieving, Rescue, Illness, Healing, and Happiness, written by Howard & Pat London and illustrated by Sophie Anne McGregor, is inspired by actual life events. This book is written in the loving memory of Aggie, who brought joy to the authors' lives. After Aggie passed, Mimi and Papa were heartbroken and longed for a dog. They went to the animal shelter, where they found Lucky. Lucky was four years old and also longed for a family. But sadly, Lucky was sick and needed medications for almost a year. Lucky became part of their family, learned to live with them, and loved them. As events unfolded, we would know about the challenges and the relationship between Papa and Mimi and their new-found dog in this book, Lucky the Poochipug. I found this book very touching and it appealed to me because the storyline was unique. The authors' love for animals was evident in this book, and I learned a lot from it. I learned from this book that there are a lot of animals out there who need help. The pictorial illustrations were lovely, and I commend Sophie, the illustrator, for a job well done. The idea behind the authors' decision on "Poochipug" was unique and creative. There are also moral lessons that readers, especially children, could learn from reading this book, such as perseverance and positivity. I found nothing to dislike in this book, and because I found the storyline very touching and creative, I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was also professionally edited, as I noticed an error while reading it. I recommend this book to children between the ages of 5 and 12.
